Terrific TV, price, delivery!

Review Date: July 2, 2009
Reviewer: K. Jones, Chicago, IL
After having spent several months researching, considering options, & agonizing over choices, I am completely happy with this TV - can actually say, `I love it!' Therefore, for the first time ever, I'm providing a customer review:

Picture quality:
SD very good & much better than expected; HD quality terrific.
Better than what I expected based on the display loops they run at Best Buy. Motion flow produces very smooth picture.

DVD quality:
Terrific; better than expected. (Don't have Blu-ray)

Matte screen:
My room is very bright. Samsung's ultra-clear panel on the 650 model is as shiny & reflective as glass - like looking in a mirror. The 630's matte screen is perfect for my needs, yet I'm still getting a very clear picture with great contrast ratio. I only knew this model existed by reading customer comments at Amazon, as Samsung doesn't appear to promote this model.

Settings:
TV has lots of options for picture & sound settings. Easy to adjust, test, play around with.

Connection to Cable Box/DVR:
To be able to use my cable DVR remote with the TV, I had to call the cable company to get the volume control to work - just needed a special code.

Sound:
OK; better than expected.

Set aesthetics:
Attractive. Originally nervous about the red Touch of Color - but it is very subtle; looks more brown/burgundy. Does NOT look like the bright red stripe that is pictured in Amazon's product info.

Amazon `Enhanced Delivery':
Very good. Delivery by CEVA was on-time. Team of two guys took their shoes off at the door without being asked, unpacked the TV, mounted it on the stand, placed it on my TV console, & hooked up connections to cable.

Warranty:
Set comes with standard one-year warranty from Samsung. But, for peace of mind, I added an additional two-year warranty (for a total of 3-yrs coverage) offered by Square Trade for Amazon customers for just an extra $99. This Amazon/SquareTrade package is a much better extended warranty deal than I could have gotten from other retail or online sellers.
The best non LED LCD out there

I decided to buy this TV after doing about 3 months of research. Initially I was ready to buy LED TV(which was additional $1000), but settled on this. The TV came in 2 DAYS!!! with the Free shipping.. I've been using this TV for the past 4 days, so far I love it. picture is probably the best on this tv. I have fios, which is great on this TV. I have this in my living room which has a lot of windows, it works great there. The audio i was a bit disappointing, but who cares, I'll be plugging this into my receiver. For this price you cannot beat it..far better than SONY (non led), and SHARP.
Pros:
-Great picture,
-Great contrast, color,
-HDMI connections.
-Ethernet plug in for the Info Link and updating Firmware
-USB HDD/Flash plug in for playing photos, movies (havent tried this yet)
-Great Remote
-User Interface is great
-Lighter (40 lbs)
-One man installation
Cons:
-Speakers are sub par, you def need to hook up to home theater.

Amazing tv for an excellent price

Well, so far - so good.

Just received the TV this afternoon, and setup was a snap. HDMI inputs are plentiful (three on the back, one on the side), and fortunately there are also inputs for Composite (two, both on the back), and an old-style RCA video input (also on the side). The set also allows for connections of USB, PC-out, digital audio optical input. You can also hook the set up to your LAN with a standard Ethernet connector (sorry kids, no WiFi yet).

**EDIT: Ok, let me clarify something here. The set WILL support WiFi with the appropriate USB adapter (direct link:Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick Wireless LAN Adapter), but since it's not included with the set as-is, hence the above comment about WiFi. END EDIT**

The stand assembly was simple (8 screws and done). The stand also rotates slightly (20 degrees left/right off center), which while not uncommon, is a plus. Also worth mentioning, the stand also incorporates Samsung's "Touch of Color" so the front bezel has a light red stripe, co conform with the same stripe on the bezel of the TV. I'm honestly not sure what the point of the "Touch of Color" is, but if nothing else, it makes the TV easier to find in the dark (sarcasm is like a second language to me, by the way). I mention the stand only because I originally planned to put the set on a console-style table, until I found my old wall-mount (see below for more on that).

Speaking of finding things in the dark however, I must also mention that the remote for the TV, while not appearing to be able to be able to control other devices (standard fast-forward, pause, etc... style buttons at the bottom of the remote are used to control slideshows, etc) all of the buttons are back-lit, with a highlighted "on/off" button. This IS a thoughtful idea, and one that I wish many more TV designers will implement.

Thus far the set has performed admirably, HDMI output from my cable provider is clear and sharp. A few simple adjustments to adjust the set for my specific room (and my particular taste) conditions, and everything is gorgeous. I also have tried out an older (non-upconverting) DVD player via Component inputs as well, and "Fringe" looks damn-near perfect.

Sound however is another matter. There's really only SO much you can do with two speakers, and Samsung has done a VERY good job with adjustments and whatnot, but let's face it - if you're buying a 46-inch TV, you probably already have a MUCH better stereo ready to roll. If not - well, this would be the ONLY caveat emptor I would point out (and it's STILL not a big enough deal to make me reduce my 5-star rating either, so there).

Ok, one note worth mentioning here, as I had to play "find the correct-sized bolt" to use my old wall-mount: The bolts you will need are standard 8-mm x 25-mm sizes that will easily screw into the back of the set.

One more item - make all your back-side connections before you hang the set. This may sounds like a "DUH" suggestion, but trust me from experience, you tend to get excited and forget to think EVERYTHING through when setting something like this up for the first time.

I must also commend the delivery company (CEVA) as they were courteous, friendly and helpful. They didn't offer to set the set up, but they did carry the set through the house, and placed it (VERY carefully) in the room in which it was to be set up in.

For the money, I really have to say this is one of the most impressive TV sets I've bought. Excellent image quality, decent (for a TV) sound, and extraordinarily intuitive and simple setup process.

If I have any further insights as I move through my ownership journey, I'll be sure to add them here.

Thanks for reading.
Much better than I ever expected.

I purchased the LN46B630 through Amazon's Warehouse Deals as an open box item. The item description was "Minor cosmetic damage to housing." So when I received the item I went over the set with great detail. It appeared as though someone purchased it, received it, opened the manual, and decided to return it. There was NO damage whatsoever to the housing. After researching extensively I found a calibration setting that many were praising for the 650 series and decided to apply it to the 630. Needless to say I was astounded. Every component I had up until this purchase was begging for high definition, so I was forced to oblige. Taking the 20,000:1 cut from the 650 was easy to deal with after seeing the complete lack of glare that the matte screen offers. As referenced by a previous reviewer, the frame indicates the glare that would have been with the gloss screen of the 650. I have a PS3 connected via HDMI and the first thing I did was put in Dark Knight on Blu-Ray. I was blown away by the performance. No regrets whatsoever with this decision. I would recommend the 630 to anyone slightly worried about glare issues. I'm happy to answer any questions anyone may have.
Mind-Blowing Picture

Out-of-this-world Picture... Amazing.

It's that simple. I am a tech junkie, and have installed numerous TV's in the past for others. I was ready to upgrade my plasma, as it seemed to be getting long in the tooth. I went to several places, watched the TV's and then starting narrowing them down. I finally edged it to the Sony Bravia, Toshiba Regza, and this model. I kept coming back to the Samsung. Not only is it aesthetically more pleasing just sitting there (which is a plus for the wives) the picture was stunning. Samsung higher-end LCD's have a vivid 3D quality to them not found in other LCD panels. I can't explain it, I just know I, and everyone else looking at them, saw it and was convinced it was the best LCD for the money. Almost, almost, as good as the LED panels.

I brought it home, hooked up the Blu-Ray, popped in Ratatouille and WOW. Even my wife, who could care less, could see the difference. My seven year old was blown away too! It brought the movie to life. I then popped in U-571 to see some natural action and again I was overwhelmed with the picture. It looked like you were live, right there. Then my son wanted to test out the XBOX 360 with Madden 2010. WOW, AGAIN! We couldn't believe how good the game looked.

Well, after he went to bed I flipped on CBS HD to watch The Good Wife. A simple one-hour drama in HD, but WOW again, it looked almost as good, and life-like, as the blu-ray of U-571. I flipped to other channels in HD and I couldn't believe how great it looked over my plasma and I know over many of the other TV's in the store that I was comparing it too.

I am convinced I bought the right TV, and the bonus is it looks good too. It has a glass stand, elegant look with the slight rose color, and swivels on it's base, which most other TV's did not. All in all, this is a TV worth considering if you are around the $1100-$1300 mark, and I would really look at this before I dropped another $1,000 on LED. I don't believe you will regret your decision. Pop your first Blu-Ray in, and you will destroy the box, never to take the TV out of your house and back to the store.

I've had this TV for about 4 months now and am VERY happy with my purchase. I love the matte screen, which is the main reason I chose this model over other comparable Samsung 46" LCDs. I have HD cable, blu-ray player, Onkyo SR-507 Receiver with 5.1 surround sound, all set up with HDMI cables (purchased thru Amazon at very low prices). Since I'm using surround sound (SS), I can't comment on the TV speakers (SS highly recommended!). I found the factory settings to produce a somewhat surreal picture so, after creating my custom settings, the picture is AMAZING [especially great for Blu-Ray, DVD (HD upconversion with blu-ray player) and HD Cable channels], which are as follows:
Backlight - 7
Contrast - 100
Brightness - 47
Sharpness - 20
Color - 50
Tint (G/R) - G49/R51
Advanced Settings:
Black Tone - Off
Dynamic Contrast - Off
Gamma - 0
Color Space - Auto
White Balance:
R-Offset - 23
G-Offset - 24
B-Offset - 25
R-Gain - 27
G-Gain - 23
B-Gain - 15
Flesh Tone - 0
Edge Enhancement - Off
Picture Options:
Color Tone - Warm2
Size - varies depending on source but, normally 16:9
Digital NR - Auto
HDMI Black Level - Low
Blue Only Mode - Off
Auto Motion Plus 120hz: Blur Reduction - 10 Judder Reduction - 4
Outstanding

Let me begin by saying that this is my first experience with HDTV. The TV this replaces is an old tube TV that measured, I think 25 inches. So this is such a huge upgrade and I have little to compare it against. First off, I commend Amazon and their arrangement with Pilot. This company contacted me quickly and wanted to deliver in one day. Unfortunately, we were having company, so I arranged to have it delivered the day after the estimated delivery date. No problem. Box in great shape, not a nick.

I immediately began to set up the TV and truly, it was a snap. The connections are logical and well laid out. There are numerous rear connections, and a full set of connections on the side for devices you don't always have connected. I can't imagine needing more connections than are available here.

The set is very well thought out, with a great solid swiveling base (and VESA compatible rear mount area), cord keeper in the rear of the set, a good solid remote (it is lit, well laid out, with largish solid buttons). The viewing angle seems quite good to me, and I realize that this has been a problem with LCD sets in the past. The set is also already in the Logitech Harmony remote database. Excellent!

I have used the set with a variety of input: HD cable stations (great); regular cable stations (okay); regular DVD (great); and laptop (great). I am stunned at the picture quality. Great detail rendered, beautiful color, and a variety of screen modes (16:9: 4-3, screen fit, etc) so you can scroll through them to see which is best. I keep calling my wife: "Hey come and see this, you'll not believe it." It is a huge - gigantic - qualitative leap forward from what I had previously. I knew that this would be the case, but did not expect to be so floored by it. This model's screen is not super glossy like some sets so it does not reflect room light sources as much. I really like that kind of finish over the glossy screen types.

I find the menu system to be completely intuitive. In fact for each menu choice, there is text on the bottom of the screen that explains what you are changing. Very helpful. There are also basic controls on the front of the set, but I find them next to impossible to see and use. But they are there (It took me a week or so to find them, REALLY!!!). The manual itself is pretty helpful, though there are some functions that are rather cryptically described (e.g. picture in picture) The set is also very attractive. The touch of red is very subtle. Way more so than images at Amazon or the Samsung site would lead you to believe.
Couldn't be happier

I chose this model specifically because I was concerned about screen reflections. Of all the sets I've reviewed in stores, this one does the best job. I spent about a year finally making up my mind on which tv to buy.

Picture quality at home is much better than what I experienced while reviewing them in the stores. I assume the stores really do not have very good video signals going into their tvs.

Comcast HD quality far surpassed my expectations. It really is awesome. I am amazed every time I watch it. Standard def channels are very good as well. Way better than what I expected. Big tip for everyone watching standard def input. Watch it in Movie Mode. The primary issue being the sharpness level. If you have sharpness level set high on a standard def signal it doesn't work well. Turning sharpness to zero will give you the best picture on standard def.

I had some issues with using AutoMotion Plus with Comcast HD. It would sometimes produce artifacts, like jerky, stuttering movements. Best to just turn that off. For Blu-Ray however, the AutoMotion Plus does work excellent and did not experience these artifacts. Despite what I read in a CNET review, the dejudder processing does work very well for blu-ray and recommend leaving this setting on for blu-ray and completely off for cable viewing.

Blu-ray in general was a big disappointment for me initially. What I discovered is that not all blu-ray disks are created equally. It all depends on how the original movie was shot and then how the blu-ray maker encoded that particular movie when making the blu-ray disk. Some movies will appear grainy because they were shot in film mode, while other movies shot in video mode are crystal clear. The primary solution to this is the same as watching standard def, turn down the sharpness level, although setting it to zero is not necessarily optimal for blu-ray. A setting of 20% seemed to work well on all disks.

I had some hesitation about this model because of the Red Touch of Color. This model only has the red at the bottom, not on the top or sides. As others have noted, it is not bright red like the marketing material. In my home, it is an extremely dark red. It is not even noticeable unless directly looking at the bottom bezel and certainly not a distraction in any other scenario. If you are worried about the Red, I would say this is totally a non-issue.

I found the sound quality excellent. Of course it is not as good as a home theater setup. There is not any TV that is going to give you a surround sound experience like a home theater will. I normally listen to the sound at 10% and might need to take it up to 25% when lots of noise is going on in the house. I have this set in a spare bedroom which also contributes to the sound working so well for me. Being in a larger more open area might not work as good, but then you would want a home theater setup anyway.

XBOX 360 works perfectly on it. No lag or display issues at all.

Netflix streaming looks great too. You have to have high speed internet for that to work well though. I have the 1.5mbps DSL package and that does not work well much of the time. I am upgrading to comast internet service which should allow the netflix to stream in full HD all the time instead of periodically downgrading the signal like it does with my dsl.

I haven't had any problems with the set. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I am a very picky customer, so this is saying a lot. Would definitely buy it again if I had to make the choice again.

Samsung LN46B630

I purchased the TV from Amazon.com and it was delivered by CEVA Logistics. They arranged a delivery time and then showed-up on time. They were courteous and offered to unpack the TV so I could inspect it.

This TV is fantastic. It comes with a Plug&Play (set-up) menu that is very helpful. The HD picture (over-the-air) quality is superb. The SD picture quality is good too. Although, I did have to buy an S-Video to HDMI converter, since there's no S-Video connector on the TV. Sound is as good as any of the flat panels I've heard, even has equalizer controls.
The complexity of the user controls take a little time to get use to, but it's worth the time. Samsung has provided a most thorough array of picture, color and sound controls. You are able to customize the picture and color to about anything you want.
One of the reasons I choose the model 630 was the matte screen. I have terrible reflective glare in the room where it's installed. It looks great even with direct sun on the windows. I read about the matte screen in a review. I don't think I've ever seen it referred to by Samsung.
I've not tried any of the internet or computer options, so I can't say anything about them.

My equipment attached to TV:
20 year old RCA UHF/VHF antenna mounted in the attic space in my garage.
9 year old Bytronix VCR/DVD player, best output is Component Video.
Direct TV SD satellite receiver, best output is S-Video.
S-Video to HDMI up-converter (converts 480i to 1280x720).

Overall I would say; buy this TV, you won't be disappointed...

I did a bunch of research and ended up buying this TV a few months ago. I was initially going to buy a Vizio but I knew a few friends who bought Vizio TVs and they had problems with them (blurry borders, green pixel lines on one side). So I decided it was time to step up and pay the Samsung premium.

I had multiple people at work recommend Samsung and I read a bunch of reviews on other sites. There seemed to be no major issues with Samsung (unlike the Sony TV issues with dark scenes, etc). The only thing I was worried about was the "glossy" nature of Samsungs.

Then I heard that the 630 model would be less glossy. It was a bit cheaper than the 650 (but it had a little lower contrast ratio)...

I have no regrets, the picture is really sharp and I just plugged it in and it has been working perfectly. I bought the $12 HDMI cable here on Amazon and everything is awesome. Do it, you won't be let down.

After much research on LCD TVS, I narrowed my choices down to the samsung B650 and the B630. I decided on the B630, since it had the semi-mat screen. I am glad I did because the picture quality is great and the reflections are minimal. For sound I hooked up a Samsung HT-BD1250 Blu-ray Home Theater System. It works great with the B630.
Great for bright room.

This TV is great for our bright living room, several large windows and a skylight. I was worried about the glare when I viewed the B650 at BB because of the mirror-like reflection of the screen. With the matted screen, the B630 does not have this problem and looks great even in the bright afternoon light. I also really like the ability to play movies using the USB port, very nice TV!

I think this is a great purchase. I'm glad I got the "630" because it operates at 120 Hz & I haven't detected a blur in the picture. While I appreciate being able to choose between 3 sizes of text on the DIGITAL stations, I wish the same were true about the ANALOG stations. I only wish it had some kind of Channel Labeling to be used on the apparently unlimited "Favorite Stations" you can list. It would be a great help when checking out your favorite stations. If it's there, I can't find it. Other than that, I can't find anything negative to say about this item. I'll only add that in choosing between 40" & 46", I'm glad I opted for the larger & you should have a couple of adults on hand for removal from the carton & set-up. While it's not that heavy, it is a bit large for one person. Also, get an appropriate Surge Protector, so as not to have any warranty problems.
Not Really Surprised

I had a 40" Samsung (LN4061) for just over a year and a half and was totally sold on the matte screen and quality of the picture. When this unit was stolen in a burglary I knew that I wanted another Samsung. I decided to get a 46" model as I was no longer constrained by a width requirement. I also wanted a matte screen as there are no window coverings here. If you are concerned about glare, the matte screen models will make a believer of you.

I ordered a returned unit that was without some accessory that apparently isn't needed. It was delivered on time and the person stayed until I checked out the unit.

I am absolutely sold on Samsung and don't hesitate to tell friends and relatives about them. The 120Hz screen refresh rate is impressive. I haven't seen a 240Hz model, but I can imagine how much of an improvement they are.

I also don't mind not having to pay tax on items bought through Amazon.

I just made a purchase through electronics expo. At first I was debating on going with a 60hz set, to save some money. Then I stopped by my local best buy and they had this model and also the b550 which was the other series I was considering. Seeing them side to side, it was obvious that the 630 was the one to buy. The picture was bright, no motion blur, deep blacks, an all around great set. I got home to price shop on amazon and came across electronics expo, so I gave them a call. We were able to settle on a price that fit my budget and it was shipped out promptly. I am very happy with this set and would recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing 120hz tv.

The television has excellent picture quality and the television itself improves the aesthetic of your living room. Since i purchased the tv i am hooked on to the movies. The television accepts USB1, USB2, PC inputs as well. The clarity is very good when you play websites like hulu, you tube on the tv. On connecting the digital camera to the tv the tv detects the camera and loads the pictures which it displays with unbelievable quality. All in all extremely haappy with the product.

I love my new TV. This Samsung is great. I'll be honest, I shopped for these in person at Best Buy first, and in the store though the Samsung had a much better picture (& handled motion better) than the similarly priced LG or Sharp models. Watching HD channels (I think CBS broadcasts are the best), especially sports is amazing. Picture is crisp, colors are deep and rich. There is a little bit of jitter when there is a ton of motion, but none that is obnoxious or is distracting when watching a show. I seriously cannot watch non-HD channels anymore, they look awful in comparison.

Even the CEVA white glove delivery was relatively painless. I say "relatively" because there was only one delivery guy and he needed my wife's help (I was at work) to get the TV in the house. He also didn't have a screwdriver to attach the stand (which seemed odd), but everything was great after that!

I am very happy with my purchase. Here are things that worked better than expected:
1. SD transmission looks good. I have only 4-5 HD channels that look great but the other channels look good too.
2. USB port on the side plays video formats without any issue - mp4 and even *.vob
3. Matte screen works well to avoid glare as expected

I was hesitant to order such a large product on line, but after months of research I ordered the Samsung LN46B630. I have not been disapointed.
The Civa delivery was right on time. Unfortunately, the TV would not turn on and I had to refuse delivery. No problem, a replacement was delivered in 3 days.
I chose this model because of the unadvertized matt screen. It really cuts down on the glare in my brightly lit room. I was concerned about the sound but I find the speakers more than adiquate for normal TV veiwing. I run the sound through my stereo for movies and special events. Excellent picture, easy to use remote, easy hookup. Now if my cable company would only broadcast in 1080p! Thankfully DVDs look great through my blueray player. I am highly satisfied.

This Samsung TV is fantastic! It looks beautiful when it's powered on...and even when it's not. Bright, sharp picture & good sound even if you don't have an external speaker system. If you're a sports fan...this TV with HD programming is a MUST! I've watch so many football games this season, and I literally feel like I have 50 yard line tickets for each and every game. I also own a PS3 and gaming and watching Blu-ray's on this TV is phenomenal. It's a great purchase and with Samsung and other high-end TV manufacturers now pushing their new LED TV's, expect to see continual price drops for LCD's, allowing for deep discounts and great savings. As it has become obvious, I'm quite glad I purchased this television and I would recommend you do the same.

Did over 3 months research on TV, finally decided to go with this one. I was looking at Bestbuy, Sears and couple other places, at the end, I decided to get it from Amazon. Well, I have been buying things from Amazon from time to time, but never this big. I was a bit worry at first coz I use the free shipping as usual, just to save some money.... :P Well, it turns out pretty good. The delivery service was good. They call me 10 mins before they arrive. Nice...

As for the TV, no complain so far... It works right out of the box. Didn't even have to read the manual. I set it up in just few minutes. Nice image quality, so far I only use 120Hz when I watch football. will get some movie later to test it out more... Overall, good quality TV, well built. will certainly recommend..
Great TV

I bought this TV (actually the LN46B640) because of the reputation, and it did not fail me! Picture is fantastic with HDMI and component, sound is awesome. The only thing I don't like is that mine did not have the optical input, only an optical out. Doesn't make sense to me, but if you use HDMI it doesn't make a difference. I would recommend this television to anyone who can afford it!
Very satisfied

Picture quality is great. I notice no blur in fast action sports as some have warned against with LCD. Sound is fine for a lot of programming but I have a Bose surround system which I use when sound is important.

Since this set has a QAM receiver, you can receive the unscrambled HD signals directly off the cable without paying for a HD cable box(cable companies are not allowed to scramble free channels such as PBS, NBC, CBS, etc.). Run the cable into a splitter and feed one coax to the TV and the other to your low definition cable box for the scrambled channels. Then run the cable box into the aux inputs of the TV to watch the scrambled channels (in normal definition of course). You have to run the channel scan function. I used all the default options and it worked fine. If you need to watch the scrambled channels in HD you have to pay for the HD cable box

My only complaint was the delivery service. They were very prompt and the two men were polite but they immediately opened the carton when they brought it into my house, plugged the TV in to show me the screen lit up and then started to assemble the stand. When they were unable to put the stand together I told them I'd do it as I was afraid they would do some damage. I escorted them to the door and when I got back the TV had toppled over! Fortunately, there was thick carpeting with a thick pad underneath and the TV worked fine when I plugged it back in and hooked up the cable. I would prefer they had left it in the carton and let me assemble the stand and remove the TV. The directions say "assemble the stand before removing the TV from the carton". I would have been much more careful.
So THIS is what I've been missing...

After weeks of "sorry, we don't have that model in stock yet" from my local electronics retailer, I decided to give Amazon a shot. Good move on my part - we saved $150, Amazon shipped our set out the day after I ordered it, and it was delivered six days later.

I've been reading some iffy reviews about the CEVA delivery service, but our experience was overwhelmingly positive. I had to be proactive and call CEVA to schedule delivery (they sat on the set for a couple of days and I got tired of waiting), but once the appointment was set, everything was as smooth as glass. The TV arrived in great shape and the delivery guy unboxed it, plugged it in to make sure it worked, and hauled away the box. Sweet.

And now, on to the good stuff:

Picture quality: Awesome. We stepped up from a 27" CRT, so this was like opening a door to a whole new world. That being said, don't expect miracles from standard definition programming. The feed from our (standard def) cable box looked OK but a little blocky when we got close to the screen. When we fired up the new Harry Potter DVD through an HDMI connection, the picture was VASTLY improved, even from a standard DVD. Finally, we popped in "Finding Nemo," and WOW. The image filled the whole screen (no black bars) and the picture was stunning, with deep blacks and vibrant, crisp colors. I can only imagine how good HD programming or Blu-Ray will look on this bad boy.

Audio: Just fine for a TV. We have our sound going through a home theater system anyway, so we won't use the TV speakers. We did notice a small sync issue, where the TV's audio arrives a split-second before the picture does. After a little research, I found this is a common problem for LCD/plasma TVs. At any rate, it's almost a non-issue since the delay is so small.

Viewing angle: The picture quality does suffer a bit when you watch from an angle. Dark colors get a little washed out, and blacks seem to get a slight greenish tint. The difference in quality isn't major, though.

Matte screen: Fantastic. One of the main reasons we bought this set since we have a lot of ambient light in the room. It really tones down the intensity of surrounding light sources. Good stuff.

Swivel base: Rocks. I honestly didn't think it would be such a big deal...until I started hooking up our connections. Convenient access to the back panel, the ability to angle the set for better viewing...This feature is like a giant dollop of whipped cream on an already awesome sundae.

Aesthetics: Extremely cool. Don't get freaked out by the red "Touch of Color." It's really very subtle, and adds a nice understated elegance to the set.

Network connection: Haven't used it. Probably won't.

Honestly, the few problems I have with this TV are due to the limitations of LCD and standard def technology, not the quality of the set. Samsung hit a home run with this one.
After living with it for a couple of weeks....

The delivery people were excellent and refused a tip after unboxing and turning on the TV to check for dead pixels. My secong big screen purchase from Amazon and I'm very happy with them.

I got this TV to replace my Samsung DLP 50" tv. The tv's picture is just awesome, you can tell a huge difference in the contrast ratio from my 4 year old Samsung DLP. Infolink is cool, but not sure its very useful. CEVA Delivery was awesome, i had to take the day off on wednesday the 1st, ordered the prior sunday morning, saw tracking had the tv in my city, but wasnt scheduled until the 7th of July. Called CEVA and they arranged to have it delivered on the 1st. I would recommend this tv, or any tv purchase on amazon, had an awesome experience, and would buy a large ticket item again with confidence.
Very nice for the price
